The launch
Skyfall AI launched SKY-001, which it calls the first engineering world model, built for CAD and BIM work. Skyfall's benchmark puts it 51 to 125 times faster and 150 to 210 times cheaper than every frontier model it tested, GPT-6 Astra included.
Skyfall was founded by the team behind Maluuba, the deep learning lab Microsoft acquired in 2017, and is backed by investors including Fidelity and Inovia Capital. Doomers ran the launch. It went out on 19 October 2026 from co-founder and CEO Sam Pasupalak's own account, which had about 340 followers.
Twice Microsoft's model launch
SKY-001 did twice the views of Microsoft-Decision-1, the model Satya Nadella launched ten days earlier to 9.7 million followers. Three days after that, Nadella announced Maia 300, Microsoft's biggest bet on its own silicon. SKY-001 passed that too, from an account about one twenty-eight-thousandth the size.
| Launch post | Followers | Views on X |
|---|---|---|
| Skyfall AI, SKY-001, 19 Oct | about 340 when it posted | 4.1M |
| Google DeepMind, Gemini 3 Deep Think, 12 Feb | 1.6M | 3.2M |
| Microsoft, Maia 300, 12 Oct | 9.7M | 2.2M |
| Microsoft, Decision-1, 9 Oct | 9.7M | 1.7M |
Pasupalak sold his last company to Microsoft. Ten days after Microsoft's CEO launched a model to 9.7 million followers, he launched one to about 340 and was seen twice as often.
Against Skyfall's normal post
The launch did about 2,170 times the views of Pasupalak's normal post. His original posts in the three months before had a median of 1,632 views, and Skyfall's company account a median of 772.
| Measure | Before launch | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Views on Pasupalak's typical post | 1,632 | 4.1M on the launch post |
| Pasupalak's followers | about 340 | 12,989 |
| Skyfall AI's followers | 2,227 six hours in | 5,434 on 21 Oct |
| Posts naming Skyfall or SKY-001 | about 2 a day | 2,085 on launch day |
The founder's account grew about 30 times in 19 hours. Skyfall's own account doubled between the evening of launch day and the next morning.
A news story in 26 minutes
X put SKY-001 in Explore as a news story, "Skyfall AI Launches SKY-001, Top Engineering World Model", 26 minutes after the post went out. It was still being updated the next morning.
A story in Explore reaches people who follow none of the accounts involved, and it gets there when a topic is gathering posts fast. In the six days before launch, about two posts a day named Skyfall. In the hour after 2pm on launch day there were 720.
What it led to
The launch put more than 8 million views on SKY-001 in its first 19 hours, across the launch post, the thread and the posts about it.
The bookmarks show who was reading. 13,985 people saved the post, close to one for every like, which is what engineers do with a tool they mean to try. The pickup kept going overnight, from the US to India and Asia, well after the first hours had passed.
What Doomers ran
Doomers ran the launch window. The first hours were carried by founders, engineers and creators from the network whose audiences build things, and they quoted the post with their own take on the benchmark. That wave lifted a 340-follower account into the conversation the Explore story picked up, and the post carried itself from there.
The post led with a benchmark against GPT-6 Astra, three numbers a reader could repeat, one sentence of product and a 2:36 film. The breakdown reads the copy line by line and shows how it climbed.
The post
Introducing SKY-001, the first Engineering World Model. On CAD and BIM tasks, it beats GPT-6 Astra and every frontier model we tested: -> 51-125x faster -> 150-210x cheaper -> Higher IOU than all frontier models
SKY-001 lets you dream a physical object before you build it.
