A launch Doomers ran. The post's figures come from the launch directory, which re-reads it every 30 minutes while it is moving and daily after that. The follower counts, the timeline and the mention counts are from our own reads of X in the first 19 hours.
What Skyfall launched
SKY-001 is a world model for engineering design: it works on CAD and BIM tasks, the drawings and building models that physical products start as. Skyfall's launch benchmark puts it 51 to 125 times faster and 150 to 210 times cheaper than every frontier model it tested, GPT-6 Astra included, with a higher IoU, the overlap score for how closely a generated shape matches the target.
Per CAD case, that is 3.9 seconds and half a cent against 199 seconds and 75 cents. These are Skyfall's figures, from the launch thread.
Skyfall AI is based in Toronto and San Francisco and backed by investors including Fidelity and Inovia Capital. It was founded by the team behind Maluuba, the deep learning lab Microsoft acquired in 2017. Sam Pasupalak, Maluuba's CEO, is Skyfall's co-founder and CEO.
What the launch post did
The post did 4.1M views from an account of about 340 followers, 11,864 times the following it posted from. It went out from @spisallyouneed at 1:58pm Eastern on Monday 19 October 2026.
It stands at 4,057,374 views, 15,875 likes, 794 replies, 616 quote posts and 13,985 bookmarks. That is close to one bookmark for every like, which is what a post looks like when the people reading it intend to come back and try the thing.
Pasupalak's original posts in the three months before had a median of 1,632 views. The launch did about 2,170 times that, and his account went from about 340 followers to more than 10,000 in 19 hours. Skyfall's own account doubled in the same window.
Against Microsoft, from 340 followers
SKY-001 did twice the views of Microsoft's own model launch that month, from an account about one twenty-eight-thousandth the size. On 9 October, Satya Nadella announced Microsoft-Decision-1 from his account of 9.7 million followers. It did 1.7M views.
| Launch post | Followers | Views on X |
|---|---|---|
| Skyfall AI, SKY-001, 19 Oct | about 340 when it posted | 4.1M |
| Google DeepMind, Gemini 3 Deep Think, 12 Feb | 1.6M | 3.2M |
| Microsoft, Maia 300, 12 Oct | 9.7M | 2.2M |
| Microsoft, Decision-1, 9 Oct | 9.7M | 1.7M |
Pasupalak sold his last company to Microsoft. Ten days after Microsoft's CEO launched a model to 9.7 million followers, Pasupalak launched one to about 340 and was seen twice as often. Three days after that Nadella announced Maia 300, Microsoft's biggest bet on its own silicon, and SKY-001 outran that too.
How it climbed
The post went from 33K views in its first half hour to 927K by the evening and 3.5M the next morning. We read it three times on the first day.
| Reading | Views | Multiple of following |
|---|---|---|
| 27 minutes in | 33K | 96x |
| 6 hours in | 927K | 2,710x |
| 19 hours in | 3.5M | 10,360x |
| Now | 4.1M | 11,864x |
X put the launch in Explore as a news story, "Skyfall AI Launches SKY-001, Top Engineering World Model", about 26 minutes after the post went out. The story was still being updated the next morning. That placement happens when a topic is gathering posts fast, and it sends the launch to people who follow none of the accounts involved.
The conversation shows in the counts. In the six days before launch, about two posts a day named Skyfall or SKY-001. On launch day there were 2,085, with 720 in the hour after 2pm alone, and they were still arriving at 50 to 120 an hour overnight.
The copy, read closely
The post is a benchmark claim in three lines, against the best-known model in AI. Line one claims a new category, the first engineering world model. Line two names the rival, GPT-6 Astra and every frontier model they tested, which gives every reader a reason to quote it.
The three arrows are numbers a reader can check or dispute: faster, cheaper, more accurate. Then one sentence of product, "SKY-001 lets you dream a physical object before you build it", and a 2:36 film that shows it.
The thread under the post carries the detail, including the per-case numbers. The headline post stays short enough to read in a glance, and everything a skeptic would ask for is one tap away.
What Doomers ran
Doomers ran the launch window: the first hours were carried by founders, engineers and creators from the network whose audiences build things, and they quoted the post with their own take on the benchmark. That first wave is what lifted it from a 340-follower account into the conversation the Explore story picked up.
After that the post carried itself. Accounts outside the network kept picking it up through the night, across the US and then India and Asia, and by the next morning more than 8 million views had gone to the launch post, the thread and the posts about it. The case study has what it led to.
What a lab launching from a small account can take from it
Name the model you beat. A benchmark against "existing approaches" gets read. A benchmark against the model everyone knows gets quoted, argued with and shared.
Give numbers a reader can repeat. "51 to 125 times faster" and "150 to 210 times cheaper" fit in a quote post. They traveled because every account that picked up the launch could restate them in one line.
Put the proof in the thread. The post makes the claim, and the thread holds the numbers behind it. A skeptic finds the evidence without the headline post having to carry it.
Carry the first hour. An account of 340 followers has no audience for the ranker to test a post on.
The people in the post in its first hour become that audience. How to launch a product on X covers how that gets built.
Questions people are asking
What is SKY-001?
SKY-001 is an engineering world model from Skyfall AI, built for CAD and BIM tasks. Skyfall's launch benchmark puts it 51 to 125 times faster and 150 to 210 times cheaper than the frontier models it tested, including GPT-6 Astra, with a higher IoU.
Who is behind Skyfall AI?

How did the SKY-001 launch post do on X?
Posted on 19 October 2026 from Sam Pasupalak's account of about 340 followers, it stands at 4.1M views, 11,864 times that following. X gave it an Explore news story within half an hour, and Pasupalak's account passed 10,000 followers within a day. The figures update with the launch directory.
Who ran the Skyfall AI launch?
Doomers. The first hours were carried by founders, engineers and creators from the network, who quoted the post with their own take on the benchmark. The Explore story and the overnight pickup did the rest.
Did SKY-001 beat Microsoft's launches?
