The launch
Pine Computer gives an AI agent a computer of its own: a browser, files, downloads and tools, running away from the user's laptop, with a live desktop a person can watch and take over when a step needs a human.
It comes from Pine, founded in 2024 by Stanley Wei and Vincent Sun, which raised a $25 million Series A led by Fortwest Capital in December 2025. Doomers ran the launch. It went out on 9 October 2026 from Wei's own account, which had about 1,200 followers that morning.
The biggest launch of the week
Pine Computer passed 20 million views within a day. It finished the week of 5 to 11 October as the most viewed of the 137 launches the directory tracked, and it is the most viewed launch of October so far.
That week Anthropic shipped Claude Haiku 5.5 and Claude Dashboards, OpenAI shipped GPT-6 Intelligent UI, xAI shipped Grok Bot 0.68.1 and Mistral shipped Large 4. Pine was bigger than every one of them, from accounts with up to 5.4 million followers.
| Launch, week of 5 to 11 October | Followers | Views on X |
|---|---|---|
| Pine Computer, 9 Oct | about 1,200 on the day | 24.3M |
| Anthropic, Claude Dashboards and Motion, 8 Oct | 1.9M | 11.3M |
| OpenAI, text provenance, 5 Oct | 5.4M | 8M |
| xAI, Grok Bot 0.68.1, 7 Oct | 96K | 6.7M |
| Anthropic, Claude Haiku 5.5, 7 Oct | 1.9M | 6.7M |
| OpenAI, GPT-6 Intelligent UI, 7 Oct | 5.4M | 6.6M |
| Mistral, Large 4, 6 Oct | 224K | 5.7M |
Against OpenAI's GPT-6 Intelligent UI the gap is the whole story: four times the views, from an account about one four-thousandth the size. For those days, Pine Computer was the launch the AI timeline was talking about.
Against every other computer for AI
Pine is not the first company to give AI its own computer, which makes the category the fairest comparison. Every launch in the directory that sells a computer for an agent is below.
| Computer for AI, launch post | Followers | Views on X |
|---|---|---|
| Pine Computer, 9 Oct | about 1,200 on the day | 24.3M |
| Ghost, Core, 5 Oct | 14K | 4.4M |
| Adaptive Computer, 16 Mar | 8K | 1.2M |
| Manus, Cloud Computer, 30 Apr | 250K | 236K |
Four days before Pine, Ghost came out of stealth with Core, a personal AI computer, and an $11 million seed led by a16z. Its launch post did 4.4M views from about 13,600 followers. Pine Computer did more than five times that from about a tenth of the following.
The right people saw it
Twenty million views is only worth something if the right people are among them. The first hours were carried by founders, builders and creators whose audiences are the people who would want an agent to have its own computer: engineers, operators and the investors who follow them.
The bookmarks show it. 3,065 people saved the post to come back to, five times the directory's median launch, and a bookmark on a product launch is a reader planning to try it. Wei's own account went from about 1,200 followers to 2K in a day.
What it led to
For the week it ran, Pine Computer was the reference point for the whole category, and every conversation about giving AI a computer of its own ran through it.
Investor interest followed. The same post that reached builders reached the people who fund them, in the same week a rival in the category had raised from a16z.
What the post led with
The post is four lines and a link. It opens with a claim people hold views on: AI is already smart enough. It names the problem as slow, expensive and unreliable, and gives the cause, a computer built for humans wrapped in a heavy harness.
The product name appears once, in the last line, and a 103-second film carries the demonstration. The argument got the post quoted in its first hours, and the film held everyone the ranker sent after that. The breakdown reads the copy line by line.
The post
AI is already smart enough. Real-world tasks are still slow, expensive and unreliable, because we hand AI a computer built for humans, then wrap it in a heavy harness.
AI doesn’t need to get smarter. It needs a computer built for it. Today we’re releasing Pine Computer

Questions we get asked
What is Pine Computer?
Pine Computer is a dedicated computer for an AI agent, from Pine. The agent gets its own browser, files, downloads and tools, runs away from the user's laptop, and a person can watch the live desktop and take over a step when it needs a human. Pine was founded in 2024 by Stanley Wei and Vincent Sun.
Who ran the Pine Computer launch?
Doomers. The post led with the argument, the film carried the demonstration, and the first hours were carried by founders, builders and creators from the network whose audiences overlap the people who would want an agent to have its own computer.
How many views did the Pine Computer launch get?
More than 20 million views within a day of posting on 9 October 2026, from a founder account of about 1,200 followers. It was the most viewed launch of the week on X and of October so far in the directory, and the largest launch from an account under 5,000 followers that we have measured.
How did Pine Computer compare with Ghost Core?
Ghost launched Core, a personal AI computer, on 5 October 2026 with an $11 million seed led by a16z, from an account of about 13,600 followers. Its launch post did about 4 million views. Pine Computer, four days later, did more than five times that from about a tenth of the following.
Was Pine Computer the biggest launch from a small account?
Yes. Of every launch the directory has measured from an account under 5,000 followers, Pine Computer is the most viewed: more than 20 million views from about 1,200 followers on the day.
