The short answer: post on a Tuesday or Wednesday between 10am and noon Eastern, which is 7am to 9am Pacific. Avoid the noon hour itself, when the most launches go out, and avoid Saturday.
Every figure below comes from 1,978 AI and technology launches in the Doomers launch directory, posted between 7 January and 17 October 2026. Most guides to posting times report averages across ordinary posts. These are launch posts, read from X with the exact minute each one went out.
How we measured it
Every post on X carries its own timestamp, down to the millisecond. We read it for every launch in the directory and converted it to US Eastern time, since most AI buyers on X are in the US.
Raw views are a misleading way to compare hours, because large accounts post at different times from small ones. So the main measure here is the multiple: views divided by the account's following. That isolates the part timing can change.
We report medians throughout, so a single 100M-view post cannot move a whole hour.
The best hour to post
For accounts under 100,000 followers, which is most companies launching, the window from 10am to noon Eastern produced the highest multiples of the day.
| Time posted (ET) | Launches | Median account size | Median views | Multiple of following, accounts under 100K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Midnight to 7am | 93 | 15K | 683K | 46× |
| 7am to 10am | 214 | 17K | 582K | 45× |
| 10am to noon | 466 | 11K | 647K | 74× |
| Noon to 2pm | 685 | 12K | 631K | 65× |
| 2pm to 4pm | 290 | 53K | 843K | 50× |
| 4pm to 7pm | 153 | 69K | 943K | 50× |
| 7pm to midnight | 77 | 44K | 739K | 55× |
Looked at hour by hour, 10am reached 76 times following and 11am reached 71 times. Posted on a weekday between 10am and noon, the median small-account launch reached 77 times its following. Everything else reached 54 times.
The noon pile-up
More than half of all launches, 58%, go out between 10am and 2pm Eastern. The single busiest hour is noon, with 384 launches, and it is also one of the weakest: small accounts posted then reached 54 times their following.
The hour after it recovered to 80 times. A launch at noon competes with every other company that picked the obvious slot. Moving it an hour either side avoids most of that competition.
The best day to post
For the smallest accounts, Tuesday and Wednesday lead. Up to 100,000 followers the weekdays even out, and Saturday is the outlier at every size.
| Day | Launches | Multiple, accounts under 25K | Multiple, accounts under 100K | Share past 1M views, all accounts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 315 | 84× | 63× | 37% |
| Tuesday | 504 | 98× | 62× | 39% |
| Wednesday | 415 | 110× | 64× | 40% |
| Thursday | 454 | 86× | 59× | 41% |
| Friday | 200 | 78× | 62× | 47% |
| Saturday | 50 | 29× | 23× | 26% |
| Sunday | 40 | 53× | 51× | 42% |
Tuesday is the most crowded day, with a quarter of all launches, and it still leads for accounts under 25,000 followers alongside Wednesday. Friday had the highest share passing a million views across all accounts, and the weakest weekday multiple for the smallest ones.
Saturday launches from small accounts reached 23 times their following, about a third of any weekday. Only 50 launches in the directory went out on a Saturday, and the numbers show why.
Why raw views point to the late afternoon
Sorted by raw views, the best time looks like 4pm to 7pm Eastern, at a median of 943K. That is a measure of who posts then. The median account posting in the late afternoon had 69,000 followers, against 11,000 to 12,000 at midday.
Large labs and well-known companies post later in the day, and their audiences carry the views. For a company that does not have that audience yet, the multiple is the fairer guide, and the multiple points to the morning.
What this means for a launch
- Pick a Tuesday or Wednesday, between 10am and noon Eastern. For accounts under 25,000 followers those two days lead every other.
- Stay off the noon hour. 11am or 1pm gets you the same audience with less competition.
- Do not launch on a Saturday unless the news cannot wait.
- Fill the first hour. The hour you choose matters less than who sees the post inside it. The first-hour group is what decides how far the ranker takes it.
Timing also interacts with the news cycle. A launch on the same morning as a frontier model release competes for the same timeline, whatever the hour. When to launch covers the date and the clashes to avoid.
Questions we get asked
What is the best time to post on X?
Tuesday or Wednesday, between 10am and noon Eastern, 7am to 9am Pacific. Across 1,978 launches, posts from accounts under 100,000 followers in that window reached a median of 77 times their following, against 54 times at every other hour.
What is the best day to post on X?
Tuesday or Wednesday. For accounts under 25,000 followers they reached 98 and 110 times their following, against 78 to 86 on the other weekdays. Up to 100,000 followers the weekdays are close to even, and Saturday is the worst day at every size, at about a third of a weekday.
What is the best time to post on Twitter?
The same as X, since it is the same platform: Tuesday or Wednesday between 10am and noon Eastern, avoiding the noon hour itself, when the most posts compete for the same feed.
Does the time of day matter for a product launch?
It matters less than the first hour of engagement. The best window raised the median multiple by about 43% against the rest of the day, but a launch that is carried well in its first hour beats a perfectly timed one that is not.
Why do afternoon posts get more views?
Because larger accounts post in the afternoon. The median account posting between 4pm and 7pm Eastern had about 69,000 followers, against 11,000 to 12,000 at midday. Adjusted for account size, the morning performs better.
