How the Launch Index is ranked

Every launch is ranked on the same formula, read from X's own public counts. This page is the whole method.

What it ranks

Launch posts on X from tech companies: products, models, features and funding rounds. They come from the Doomers launch directory, which picks up launches from X every day, from public launch directories and from submissions.

A launch belongs to the month it was posted in, by UTC date. To be ranked it needs at least 100,000 views. Each company appears once per list, with its best launch of the month.

Biggest launches

Views on the launch post, as X reports them. Nothing else.

The Launch Score

A number from 0 to 100, built from three parts. Each part is a percentile against every eligible launch that month, so a score of 90 means the launch beat about nine in ten of them on the blend.

PartWhat it measures
Reach, 45%Views on the post, on a log scale, so the gap between 1M and 2M counts the same as the gap between 10M and 20M.
Reach against following, 35%Views divided by the followers the account had when it posted, with a floor of 100. This is how far the launch travelled past its own audience.
Depth, 20%Bookmarks, quote posts and replies, per view. People saving a launch or arguing about it is worth more than a scroll past.

Measured at the same age

Views keep growing, so a launch from the 1st would otherwise get a month of views against a day of them for a launch from the 30th. From November 2026 the score reads views when a launch is seven days old. October 2026 uses views as read when the edition was finalised.

Followers at posting come from the first reading we took, usually within hours of the post. Where we know the exact figure at launch, we use it.

Provisional, then final

A month is published as it happens and the ranks move with each read. On the 5th of the next month the edition becomes final and never changes again, so a rank and its badge always match.

What is not ranked

Posts that were deleted, protected or could not be read, launches under 100,000 views, and a small number of companies that are not listed in the directory.

Corrections and submissions

If a launch is missing, submit it. If a figure or a company name is wrong, email team@doomers.ai and we will fix it within a day.
